At Dr. Joseph F. Pollack Academic Center for Excellence (PACE Academy), we care deeply about our school community. Our vision is to provide a safe, secure and stimulating environment where children will recognize and achieve their fullest potential, and it takes a community with positive engagement to make that happen.
Connections Make a Community
One of the reasons we take community so seriously at PACE Academy is that connections matter at our tuition-free public elementary school. There’s something powerful about being in it all together, even if it’s not necessarily fun (hello pandemic). We come together every morning in TRIBES to learn and discuss ways our behavior can promote academic success. Our dress code celebrates fashion that is casual yet unifying. After school, we have activities like archery and twirling steppers so scholars can decompress in the company of others who share their interests.
An important connection at our engaged public elementary school is with our Warrior families. Our families play a significant role in our community. We communicate regularly through our family newsletter, Engage! and The Warrior Way. We encourage our students every day through our support staff, administration, and of course, teachers. We offer many ways to get involved, for fun and for our school’s success. Come to a family movie night, volunteer at our Math Festival, attend our annual Spring getaway retreat, help out in the classroom, or cheer on the Pistons with our community. Parents are a powerful positive partner and we count on you!
Expecting Greatness…with Lots of Support
At our close-knit K-8, we set high academic and social expectations. We also make sure we’re giving our scholars experiences outside of the classroom that enhance what they’re actually learning. We want them to know how their learning is related to their everyday lives.
When school and life feel hard, our Warrior team has our back, pushing us to keep up. We use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system and a Code of Conduct to guide us along. Our teachers and staff are here for a chat, a smile, a hug and plenty of high-fives. We love building relationships and empowering our students, whether it’s teaching our ongoing 7 Habits of Highly Effective People series or a reminder that today is WIG (Wildly Important Goal) Wednesday so let’s dig a little deeper into math and reading, together, as a school community.
PACE puts the Pep in Positivity
There’s always some community-building fun in the works at our tuition-free charter school. Whether it’s a Spirit Day, Jeans Day, a field trip, Honors Breakfast or a Spelling Bee, PACE Academy keeps life peppy. We have special days but we also have little special ways to give shout-outs for all our scholars’ hard work. We see you!
Is your child feeling a little lost? We have a team of counselors, paraprofessionals, behavioral interventionists, social workers and support specialists all working for our scholars’ success. We can connect you to someone who can help your scholar put the pep back in their step. We specifically have a Family Support Specialist and extend help to you and your family. We’ve got this.
