Congratulations to Ms. Timeka Brown as she officially takes the role of principal at 

Dr. Joseph F. Pollack Academic Center for Excellence (PACE Academy) on July 1st! Ms. Brown stepped up to serve as interim principal at the beginning of this year at our tuition-free K-8 public charter school. You might think that the role of principal means patiently explaining to students why breaking out in a Drake song in the middle of class can be seen as disruptive, but there’s so much more to it.   1. Serving her community has been a passion of Ms. Brown’s since childhood.

  1. She is a native of Flint, Michigan.

  1. She is a proud member of  Zetas Phi Beta Sorority Inc.

  1. She has a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Special Education and K-12 Administration.

  1. She LOVES basketball- her favorite team is the Boston Celtics. 

  1. She believes being a leader doesn't mean you have all the answers. Listening and allowing your staff to provide their opinion on a matter is important. Being a great leader is a person that can follow other people. Learning from staff and students makes a great leader. 

  1. She was hired as PACE Academy’s Director of Special Education Services.

  1. She loves the student celebrations and assemblies as much as PACE students do!

  1. She’s in a LOT of meetings. Like, a lot: staff, parents, and students all get her time. She also works with the Board of Directors and oversees budgets, enrollment, and school performance. 

  1. She’s smitten with Beau, Royal, and Omega!
